State Quarters 2006
In the United States the State Quarter coins are as least as popular that the 2 Euro commemorative coins in Europe. The State Quarters should represent all states of the US, so there will be issued 50 different coins totally. In this year the Quarter coins will honor Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota and South Dakota (Quarter number 36-40).
The Nevada-coin shows 3 wild mustangs as a symbol– Nevada has over 50% of the wild horses in the States. The motive of the Nebraska Quarter demonstrates pioneers, moving westwards. The background is decorated with the Chimney Rock. A typical motive is also used for Colorado – The Rocky Mountains and many trees. On the North Dakota coin there are 2 bisons, which should remember on the Theodor-Roosevelt national park, the home of over 400 wild buffaloes. The 5.th quarter of the state South Dakota is the last for the year 2006 with the motive of the famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial, with the sculptures of 4 former U.S. presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Heute der erste Blogbeitrag, der sich nicht um die Euromünzen dreht und da die Meldung aus den USA kommt, wird sie an dieser Stelle sowohl auf deutsch, als auch auf englisch angeboten.
Die State Quarter Serie ist in den USA mindestens so beliebt, wie es in Europa die 2 Euro Gedenkmünzen sind. Auf den State Quarters werden alle Bundesstaaten der USA abgebildet, demzufolge wird es insgesamt 50 Münzen geben. In diesem Jahr stehen die 36. – 40. Quarter – Gedenkmünze auf dem Plan (= Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota). Auf der Nevada – Münze sind symbolisch 3 wilde Mustangs zu sehen. Grund dafür ist die Tatsache, dass Nevada über 50 Prozent der Wildpferde in den USA beheimatet. Das Münzmotiv der Nebraska – Münze zeigt, wie Pioniere mit Wagengespann Richtung Westen ziehen. Im Hintergrund ist der Chimney Rock (Kaminfelsen) zu sehen. Colorado wird durch die Rocky Mountains und zahlreiche Bäume auf der State Quarter Münze dargestellt. Auf der Münze von North Dakota sind 2 Bisons abgebildet, die an den Theodor-Roosevelt- Nationalpark, der über 400 wilde Büffel beherbergt, erinnern. Die fünfte und letzte State Quarter Münze des Jahres 2006 ist dem Bundesstaat South Dakota gewidmet und zeigt das Mount Rushmore Nationaldenkmal, welches aus den Porträts der amerikanischen Präsidenten George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodor Roosevelt und Abraham Lincoln besteht.
